My Thomson English experience, 2025. From the first text with my host family to my last day in Scarborough, my stay was amazing. When I first arrived on the seventh, you could immediately feel the hospitality. They were very, very nice and gave us a heartfelt welcome. They have two very sweet kids. One day, we were driving to an evening activity and we sang with the youngest kid the whole way there. On my first day of school, I was very surprised. Why? It didn’t feel like school. It was a lot of fun. And the classes, It felt like a real community and not just a bunch of kids thrown together. The lessons were always very creative and interactive. We also had a good teacher who was very understanding, very nice and never rude. After school and at the weekend, we always had little trips which were a lot of fun. For example, we went surfing one day and had free time another. There were also a few day trips like a visit to Whitby and York. There were also optional evening activities in which you could attend with your friends.
Talking about friends, you’ll meet a lot of new people. In the beginning, I was nervous about meeting the other students, but that was completely unnecessary. I made friends pretty quickly. I think coming here really broadened my horizon about getting to know new cultures and people.
